On April 23, 2013, Delaney Bus Lines hosted a new workshop tailored to drivers at, near or over the age of 65.  The workshop took place in the training room at their new facility in Avonmore.

The workshop was developed and delivered by James Giroux, following a new requirement in the operating contract with Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO).

A variety of topics were covered, including the effects of age on driving.  Other topics included:

  • Pre-trip Inspections
  • Student Loading and Unloading Procedures
  • Railway Crossings
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Student Behaviour Management

Special guest, Janet Murray – HR/Training & Safety Coordinator with STEO, also took part in the workshop, reinforcing the importance of ongoing training with all drivers.
