1948 - 2010

It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Delaney Bus Lines President, Michael Delaney.  On the 1st of March, 2010, Michael passed away after a battle with Mylodysplastic Syndrome which caused the Leukemia which he eventually succumbed to. 

Michael leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Janet and three children, Matthew and Christie Delaney, and Diana Begg. who is married to current Delaney Bus Lines Operations Manager, Mark Begg. The Delaney family would like to encourage visitors to our site to learn about Mylodysplastic Syndrome and Leukemia and consider giving blood.

Mike leaves behind a great legacy in Delaney Bus Lines.  He took the company from a very small school bus operation in 1972 when he took the reins from his father, into what it is today.  Delaney Bus Lines now employs 60 people, and has a fleet of 50 school buses and 7 coaches.

We would like to assure all of our loyal customers that business will continue as usual during this difficult time.  We also would like thank the community, business colleagues, customers and everyone else who has offered sympathies, donations, beautiful floral arrangements, and support during this difficult time.  Your outpouring of support speaks as a testament to a great man, Michael,  who cared so much about all of you.

Delaney Bus Lines is a transportation provider which has served the City of Cornwall and United Counties of Stormont Dundas & Glengarry in Ontario, Canada since 1948. It has grown to now include serving the city of Ottawa as well

Delaney's services include

- School bus transportation division, which safely transports approximately 1,600 students daily to and from school.
- School bus charter service which transports passengers primarily all over Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and Northern New York State.

History

Delaney Bus Lines was founded by Vincent Delaney 1948 as a school bus company. With the purchase of his original original Reo school buses, Vincent owned some of the first yellow school buses in Eastern Ontario.

In 1979 with the company being run by Vincent's son and current president Michael, Delaney Bus Lines stepped into the charter coach business. Starting off with a used Prevost Champion motorcoach Mike quickly grew the coach business and soon purchased his first new coach, a 1981 Prevost LeMirage, built in Quebec City. Throughout the 80's and 90's the coach business continued to grow to its current size. The fleet now consists 5 full-sized coaches and two mini-coaches.
